Who's behind BikeBouncer?
The system behind BikeBouncer.com was developed and is maintained by Devv, a software development company highly attached to open source and community projects. The website went live on November 2009.
Wouldn't it be great if you could register your bike somewhere, something like a "proof of ownership"? And in case it ever gets stolen, wouldn't it be great to have a place to seek help? Wouldn't it be great if other people, your friends, the police, anyone could easily check and report stolen bikes? Wouldn't it be great if all this could be linked to online auctions like eBay, and online stores so you bike come registered as soon as you buy it? And even better, can we have all these services and tools for free? Could it be free? Yes!
The future
We're constantly working to integrate our system with retailers, online stores and especially the police. We're targeting a totally automated registration process soon, so if you buy a new bike in one of our selected retailers it will be registered at BikeBouncer straight away.
